About Community Connect
Last modified: November 12, 2009The Community Connect program is a comprehensive community resource that is provided by the United Way of Southwest New Mexico.
The purpose of this program is to provide complete up-to-date information regarding the assistance and volunteer opportunities available in southwest New Mexico and serve as the connection for people in our community who need assistance and those who are looking to volunteer and offer their time as well as a resource for the nonprofit community to share information with themselves and the community as a whole.
The Community Connect Blog is your one-stop-shop for information about what is going on in our community and one aspect of the Community Connect Program. Following is additional information about the other functions fo Community Connect:
Information & Referral Database
A real-time database that provides up-to-the-minute information regarding social and community services that are available throughout our community.
The information provided by the database is designed to be used by both social service providers who need to connect their clients with services and by individuals who want to find out about the opportunities for assistance that are available to them. Using this free resource you can discover details and contact information for programs and services in a variety of areas that are offered by agencies in our community.
All non-profit organizations are automatically eligible to be included in the database as well as governmental agencies that provide direct client services and for-profit organizations that supply critical services. To have information about your agency, program or service included please contact the Community Connect Information & Referral Coordinator at the UWSWNM Office.
This database can be accessed by anyone online byclicking here (or by the link on the right), by calling the United Way office at (575) 524-7561.
Volunteer Center
The Community Connect Volunteer Center is the primary resource for connecting people in our community looking to share their time and expertise with worthwhile agencies needing volunteer support.
Many local agencies rely on the skills and expertise of volunteers to help keep their doors open and the help coming to those who depend on it. Register as a volunteer with the United Way of Southwest New Mexico and we will help match you with an agency or program that is looking for someone with your qualifications. The Volunteer Center will also keep track of the hours you volunteer (even for multiple agencies and programs) in our community and recognize your contribution!
All non-profit agencies looking for volunteer support are encouraged to contact the Community Connect Volunteer Coordinator to be included in the Volunteer Center. We will work with you to help create the volunteer job descriptions, list your opportunities in our on-line database and match you with the right volunteer for the job.
Volunteer opportunities can also be accessed through the Community Connect Database on line byclicking here (or by the link at the right) or by calling the United Way office at (575) 524-7561.
